Besides being one of the absolute classics produced in the Cava DO, this Gramona Gran Reserva Brut 2010 Mágnum comes in a 1.5-litre bottle, thus making it perfect both for ageing and for celebrations.
This Catalan sparkling wine has gained many faithful admirers over the years because of its irresistible combination of a traditional Cava character with a touch of French elegance.
It is interesting to note that, after the disgorging, the wine was added a tiny amount of shipping liquor coming from a centenary reserve of the Gramona Family.
Produced following the traditional method, the wine was aged for 48 months in the cellar.
Gramona Gran Reserva Brut Mágnum 2010 will slowly improve in the bottle for a minimum of 5 years.
We suggest that you open the bottle 30 minutes before you drink it.
Very bright, clean, pale yellow colour with some steely and golden tinges.
Complex and intense notes of white fruit, citrus, apple pie, some honey touches and aromas of lees and English custard. As the wine opens, it displays nuances of balsam, aniseed, ginger, aromatic herbs and some tertiary aromas.
Extremely gentle and quite sophisticated, with a creamy, silky body enlivened by tiny, sexy bubbles and notes of fruit compote, Mediterranean garrigue, some buttery notions, and suggestions of toast and citrus. Long, rewarding finish. Simply flawless.
