Details

Produced by the always curious, indefatigable winemaker Josep Grau, Granit is an appealing varietal Spanish white wine from DO Montsant.

Made solely from White Grenache, the grapes were sourced from three organically grown parcels with granite soils and high wind exposure, located at an altitude around 450 metres above sea level.

Once in the cellar, the grapes were gently pressed for 7 hours. After that, Granit 2022 was fermented and then aged for 7 months in 2,000-litre Austrian and German oak vats.

Aerate this white wine from Montsant 30 minutes before drinking.

We suggest pairing this Crianza white wine with fish recipes and white meat dishes.

Appearance

The white wine Granit is pale yellow with some greenish glints.

Nose

This varietal White Grenache is rich and complex. The granite soils show in some clean-cut, crisp mineral notes which contrast with those from the neighbouring Priorat, darker and more expansive. Fruit is of great quality, ripe but not juicy, with some spicy nuances, remembrances of flowers, and Mediterranean garrigue.

Palate

As usual with the wines produced by Josep Grau, this is more about subtlety and nuance than sheer power. Clean, pure and smooth-textured, with a first-class acidity and a long finish with remembrances of underbrush, white fruit, and some earthy and mineral undertones.

Our personal opinion

Elegant, suggestive and fresh, Granit 2022 is an excellent take on White Grenache.
