Details
This is the new vintage from Itsasmendi 7, produced in the Basque Country. A Spanish white wine crafted in a rather different style from most of the wines produced in that region.
As usual, this Crianza white wine is made from a blend of Hondarribi Zuri, Hondarribi Zuri Zerrate, and Riesling.
The grapes of this Txakolí white wine came from 7 plots planted with vines 10 to 30 years of age.
First, they were harvested by hand and vinified in stainless steel tanks. After that, Itsasmendi 7 2018 of Bodegas Itsasmendi was aged on lees in those same tanks for 9 months.
All in all, a highly original, uncommon white wine from the Basque Country.

| Appearance | The wine Itsasmendi 7 has a nice golden colour with some steely tinges. Not the usual colour of a Txakolí white wine, that's for sure. |

| Nose | This blend of Hondarribi Zubi, Hondarribi Zubi Zerrate and Riesling from the DO Bizkaiko Txakolina is quite original. Some salty nuances and aromas of bone fruit and white fruit, combined with notions of white flowers, aromatic herbs, citrus and some smokey and mineral undertones. Itsasmendi 7 also displays a surprising balsamic background. |
| Palate | This blend of Hondarribi and Riesling produced by Bodegas Itsasmendi is fresh, smooth and dry, with a substantial volume and a lively, mentholated acidity. Remembrances of citrus, aniseed, white fruit and some mineral and herbal suggestions. Long, elegant finish. |
| Our personal opinion | There is no doubt that Itsasmendi 7 2018 goes well beyond the paradigm of traditional Txakolí from the Basque Country. This is a more substantial kind of white wine. |

Top Txakoli!! I had it while eating in Bilbao's parte vieja and found it superb. Crisp, lean and mineral.
