Red Wine Jiménez-Landi Sotorrondero 2018
Availability: In stock
The wine Jiménez-Landi Sotorrondero belongs to the DO Méntrida. The area is located in the ultra-hype Gredos mountain range, Spain's most important rediscovered wine region since Priorat.
Crafted by the Jiménez-Landi winery, this Spanish red wine is principally made from Grenache, coming from vines 40 to 70 years of age, plus a tiny amount of Syrah coming from young, 10-year-old vines. Both are planted in sandy-granite soils.
Manually harvested at their optimal ripening point, once in the cellar 30% of the grapes were destemmed and cold-soaked for a few days. Then they were gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
After a long maceration, this red wine from Méntrida completed malolactic fermentation and was aged in 500 and 3,000-litre French wooden vats for 11 months. It was not filtered or clarified before its bottling.
Decant Jiménez-Landi Sotorrondero 2018 30 minutes before drinking.
The wine Jiménez-Landi Sotorrondero has an intense, clean, bright, medium cherry-coloured robe with ruby tinges and a violet rim.
Prominent notes of ripe black fruit, along with some hints of balsam, black pepper and some remembrances of aromatic herbs. The wood imprint of this Crianza red wine is almost unnoticeable, and this blend of Grenache & Syrah also suggests some notes of violets over a mineral background.
Bold, but extremely fresh. A good amount of black fruit and a nice sense of terroir. Acidity is one of the strong points of this wine by the Jiménez-Landi winery. Tannins are crunchy and yummy, and Sotorrondero from Méntrida ends on a slightly bitter, gently dry note.
|Our personal opinion||
Smooth and rather pure, Jiménez-Landi Sotorrondero 2018 from Méntrida - Gredos is a phantastic value.
