Red Wine La Bienquerida 2015
Availability: In stock
The flagship Spanish red wine of Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca, La Bienquerida is a single vineyard wine. It is a blend of Mencía and other indigenous varieties, all of which were planted over a hundred years ago, in 1906.
The harvest of this red wine from El Bierzo was carried out by hand. Once in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed and slightly crushed, after which they were macerated in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Then La Bienquerida 2015 was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, 40% new and 60% 2nd year ones. Finally, this Crianza red wine from the DO Bierzo was gently clarified. It was neither cold stabilized nor fined before its bottling.
We suggest that you decant this exquisite Mencía from El Bierzo at least 30 minutes before drinking.
The red wine La Bienquerida has a deep, high cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.
Complex and terroir-oriented, Losada La Bienquerida conveys a real sense of place. This Mencía from El Bierzo, for sure one of Spain's most interesting wine regions, is deeply mineral and floral, with some pristine notes of black fruit, tips of spices, tobacco and cocoa, and that enchanting aroma of rain falling on dry stones known as petricor.
Intense, detailed and information-rich. The palate of this Crianza red wine is full of mulberries and cranberries, nuanced by a note of chinese ink, a dash of spices and a lively remembrance of aromatic herbs. This wine from Losada Vinos de Finca has great simmetry and balance, though we must bear in mind that it is just beginning to unfold its potential. Long finish, with pristine mineral notes, the ferrous - sanguine note typical of the Mencía variety, and an enchanting remembrance of blue flowers.
|Our personal opinion||
We suggest that you pair La Bienquerida 2015 with red meat. However, this wine is so rich and complex that it can also be enjoyed without food over a relaxed evening.
