Details

An homage to the Montsant terroir and to the mother of Toni Ripoll, owner and winemaker of Celler PasconaLa Mare de Pascona is a single varietal Grenache.

It is produced from some of the oldest vines of the winery. They are planted in sand and granite soils, a fact which brings a remarkable freshness and finesse to this Spanish red wine

Vinified in truncated cone-shaped stainless steel tanks, this Montsant red wine subsequently completed malolactic fermentation in 225-litre French oak barrels, where it was also aged for 9 months. It was naturally stabilized and gently filtered before its bottling.

Aerate La Mare de Pascona 2017 at least 20 minutes before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine La Mare de Pascona has a deep, bright, high cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.

Nose

Complex and delicate, this old-vines Grenache carries some lively aromas of figs, wild strawberries and blue flowers, with intimations of rose petals, and hints of vanilla, toast, dry earth and underbrush.

Palate

Elegant and slender, with a linear character and a delightfully pure nature. This varietal Grenache by Celler Pascona is reminiscent of red berries, with tips of menthol and aromatic herbs, dim mineral undertones and a dash of spices and flowers. Very good acidity, velvety tannins. Long, complex finish.

Our personal opinion

Sleek and wonderfully drinkable, La Mare de Pascona 2017 pairs excellently with roasted meats.
