This is the new vintage of Lagar da Condesa, produced by the Lagar da Condesa winery, a branch of Gil Family Estates.
A single varietal Spanish white wine made from Albariño in the region of Val de Salnés, located at the heart of Rías Baixas, the vines grow in soils composed of sand and granite which have a very good water drainage, a crucial feature considering the abundance of rainfall in that Galician region.
Harvested and transported in little boxes, the grapes were selected, destemmed and cold-soaked before being crushed. Then the wine juice was transferred into stainless steel tanks and into 500-litre and 600-litre oak barrels where it was fermented at a controlled temperature.
Finally, Lagar da Condesa 2016 was aged for 4 months with its lees to enhance its creaminess and roundness.
Drink now until 2022.
The wine Lagar da Condesa has a clean, bright, pale golden colour with grey tinges.
Straightforward and well-defined, this Albariño smells of apples, pears and delicate lemony touches. On the background of this wine from Rías Baixas by the Gil Family, there are hints of fennel, honey and ripe tropical fruit over a mineral background.
Fresh and savoury, this white wine from Galicia has volume and freshness. Acidity of this wine by Lagar da Condesa is great, as is usually the case with Albariño wines. Long finish with notes of bitter aromatic herbs and rosy pomelo.

Fresh and utterly Atlantic, Lagar da Condesa 2016 proves again that the Gil Family has a keen eye for the best Spanish terroirs.
