Product Description
Details

This Spanish red wine is made from two quintessentially Mediterranean grapes, Garnacha Tintorera - or, as it is known outside Spain, Alicante Bouschet - and Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre).

Crafted by Bodegas Atalaya in Almansa - a hot, dry region in Southeast Spain -, Laya is made from vines grown in limestone soils at an altitude between 700 and 1000 metres above sea level.

After a careful vinification process, Laya 2019 was aged for 4 months in French oak barrels.

Appearance

The red wine Laya has a deep red robe with a bright hue at the rim.

Nose

This Spanish red wine from Almansa carries some fresh aromas of red fruits, along with notes of burnt sugar, chocolate, spices and tobacco. Hints of wet undergrowth and dry, mineral overtones.

Palate

This blend of Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell is smooth and crisp. Medium-bodied, fresh and full of fruit. The wine shows a good acidity, well-integrated tannins and a solid structure. Long, fruity finish with a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Our personal opinion

A great value, Laya 2019 is more complex than one might think. A fully enjoyable Mediterranean red by the Gil family.
