Red Wine Lealtanza Reserva 2014
Availability: In stock
Tradition and innovation meet in this Spanish red wine from Rioja crafted by Bodegas Altanza. Lealtanza Reserva is a single varietal Tempranillo coming from more than 50-year-old vines planted in different locations in the Rioja Alta region.
Following a philosophy of minimum intervention, the grapes of this Reserva red wine were handpicked and manually selected. Fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks, where the wine must remained in contact the grape skins in order to extract colour, tannin and aromatic compounds.
The wine was then transferred into French oak barrels. There, it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for over a period of 18 months. After that, Lealtanza Reserva 2014 spent a further period of 2 months in big wooden vats.
Finally, the wine was bottled and aged for another 12 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release onto the market.
Aerate this Rioja red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
The wine Lealtanza Reserva has an intense, bright, medium cherry-coloured robe with a reddish rim.
Elegance is the word here. This varietal Tempranillo produced by Bodegas Altanza shows fine notes of Moroccan leather, Havanna cigars, damp earth and underbush, along with notes of menthol and balsam. An underlying layer of fresh red berries and liquor-infused black fruit.
This Reserva from La Rioja is reaching its peak, showing a very good balance between the fruit and the oak. Wild berries, sweet spices, sesame seeds, liquorice and a dash of cinnamon. Lively acidity, ripe tannins and long, creamy-toasted finish.
