Produced by La Conreria de Scala Dei, Les Brugueres Negre is an easy-drinking and approachable Spanish red wine from DOQ Priorat.
It is made from a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah, coming from several parcels of certified organic vineyards with different soil compositions and sun orientations.
The two varieties were separately fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Once completed, 70% of the wine was aged for 10 months in 300-litre French oak barrels, and the rest was left in the tanks.
As inviting as its white counterpart, the well-known Brugueres Blanc, Les Brugueres Negre 2021 is approachable and food-friendly.
We suggest enjoying this Priorat red wine at a slightly lower temperature that usual. It greatly benefits from it.
The red wine Les Brugueres Negre is medium purple with some violet reflections.
This blend of Grenache and Syrah carries loads of red fruit and wild berries, punctuated by some spicy aromas, remembrances of laurel and rosemary and some mineral undertones.
Definitely lighter and livelier than your typical Priorat. Acidity is particularly good, and tannins are mild and pleasant. This wine from La Conreria d'Scala Dei lifts the spirit with good fruit - cherries, blackberries and raspberries - remembrances of Mediterranean garrigue and subtle spicy nuances. Long, delicious finish.
