Crafted by Les Cousins Marc & Adrià, two members of the distinguished Pérez Family, Les Cousins Sagesse is a Spanish red wine which embodies the essence of Priorat.
It is made from a blend of the two most representative grape varieties in the region, namely Grenache and Carignan.
The grapes come from both young and old vineyards planted in steep slopes composed mainly of the slate-locally known as llicorella-soils, typical of the region. They were harvested by hand and separately vinified in stainless steel tanks.
After that, the Carignan was aged in new and used 225-litre French oak barrels, while the Grenache was aged in 400-litre French oak barrels. Both were aged for 16 months.
Finally, this red wine from Priorat was blended and bottled.
Decant Les Cousins Sagesse 2014 a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Les Cousins Sagesse by Marc & Adrià has a very bright cherry colour with a violet rim and some bluish tinges. |

Nose | The nose of this blend of Grenache and Carignan from Priorat is enticing and mysterious. Remembrances of black fruit, toast and mineral, alongside aromas of aromatic herbs, balsam, liquorice, spices, coffee, and even a hint of lavender and chinese ink. As Les Cousins Sagesse black label opens, it becomes more and more complex. |
Palate | Fresh and bold, the palate of this red wine from Priorat shows a remarkable complexity and a nice ageing potential. Mediterranean garrigue, undergrowth, black fruit, vanille, dark minerality, bitter chocolate and menthol. Les Cousins Marc & Adrià has an exceedingly good acidity, an intrincate texture and a long, wonderfully mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | A finely crafted, classic Priorat, Les Cousins Sagesse 2014 will amaze and delight the many lovers of that magical wine region. |
