Easily recognizable by its metallic label, this Spanish sparkling wine is made from a blend of Xarel·lo (60%) & Macabeo (40%), coming from Les Flandes, the oldest and most representative vineyard of the winery. It is located in the outskirts of Subirats del Penedès.
Once alcoholic fermentation had been completed, the base wine of this top-notch Corpinnat Brut was aged in oak barrels for some time.
Then the wine was bottled and, after going through secondary fermentation, it was aged for a minimum of 100 months in the cellar.
Finally, Llopart Ex Vite Brut 2012 was added a tiny amount of shipping liquor, crafted from a blend of the best Xarel·lo wines and an old Champenoise formula dating from the late XIXth century.
Only 3,000 bottles produced.
The sparkling wine Llopart Ex Vite Brut is medium straw with some amber tinges.
Intense and enticingly aromatic, this Corpinnat sparkling wine feels amazingly fresh and alive despite being almost 10 years old. This blend of Xarel·lo and Macabeo suggests some aromas of white fruit, orange blossom, lemon rind and fine lees, combined with suggestions of butter, toasted almonds, English custard, fennel and aromatic herbs.
Again, this sparkling wine of Cavas Llopart winery is surprisingly lively, with a spectacular acidity, an intricate texture and tiny bubbles which caress the palate. Toast, dry fruit, white flowers, rosemary, laurel... Complex and with a serious potential for improvement, this Corpinnat brut has a very long finish, with a mineral and zesty tang.

A phenomenal, yet not sufficiently appreciated sparkling wine, Llopart Ex Vite Brut 2012 is a model of old-school elegance.
