Product Description
Details

A blend of Tinta del País (Tempranillo) and Merlot, López Cristobal Crianza is produced by Bodegas López Cristóbal from grapes coming from a single vineyard, Finca La Colorada, in Ribera del Duero.

Carefully selected both on site and in the cellar, the grapes were meticulously vinified. Then this Crianza red wine was aged for 12 months in 70% French and 30% American oak barrels 1 to 3 years of age.

After that, López Cristóbal Crianza 2018 was bottled and aged for a further 12 months before being released onto the market.

Pair this red wine from Ribera del Duero with stews and casseroles.

Appearance

The red wine López Cristóbal Crianza is high cherry with a purplish rim.

Nose

This blend of Tinta del País and Merlot suggests some clean, elegant aromas of ripe red fruit, combined with notes of blackcurrants and blackberries, and hints of toast, sweet spices, smoke and balsam.

Palate

This wine of Bodega López Cristóbal is savoury and well-balanced, showing distinctive notions of spices, wild berries and toast over a mineral background. Mild tannins, good acidity and long, smokey finish.

Our personal opinion

A true Ribera del Duero, López Cristobal Crianza 2018 honours its land of origin. The 5% Merlot gives the wine a rounder character.

Here the thrust of Ribera del Duero's Tempranillo is adequately rounded by a brush-stroke of Merlot. The final picture is extremely enjoyable.
