Product Description

Here is the new vintage of Luis Cañas Tinto Joven, a young Spanish red wine produced in La Rioja by the Luis Cañas winery using the traditional carbonic maceration technique, a procedure also used in the French region of Beaujolais.

The destemmed, uncrushed bunches of Tempranillo grapes are fermented in a carbon dioxide rich environment, so that the juice ferments while it is still inside the grape. The weight of the upper grapes naturally crushes those at the bottom, which naturally kickstarts alcoholic fermentation.

After 12 days, the process continues with frequent pump-overs to fix the colour of the wine. Before its bottling, Luis Cañas Tinto Joven 2018 was gently filtered and clarified.

Additional Information

The red wine Luis Cañas Tinto Joven has a nice violet colour with a garnet hue at the rim.

This cheerful carbonic maceration red wine of the Luis Cañas winery is wonderfully fresh, with plenty of aromas of red fruit, violets and some cola remembrances.

As with most carbonic maceration reds, this young Tempranillo from Rioja is a joy to drink. Refreshing, full of red fruit and with a good acidity. Great aftertaste of pomegranates and liquorice.

Our personal opinion

A yummy, spirited red wine, Luis Cañas Tinto Joven 2018 pairs well with BBQs and cheese platters. Very soft in the mouth, be sure to enjoy it slightly cool.

We tried this at a fancy Tapas bar in Madrid. Back home, we immediately ordered some cases. Exceptional value.
