Details

The prestigious winemaker Alfredo Arribas produces Luno in the DO Montsant. This Spanish red wine is marketed through Ediciones I-limitadas, one of Mr. Arribas' several wine brands.

It is made from a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah, along with a tiny amount of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Harvested by hand all through October, the grapes were fermented and macerated in stainless steel tanks. Then this Crianza red wine was aged in French and American oak barrels for 8 months.

Aerate Luno 2018 20 minutes before drinking.

Pair with a nice pasta, cold cuts or red meat dishes.

Appearance

The red wine Luno has an intense cherry colour with a violet rim.

Nose

Clean and straightforward, this blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon conveys some fresh aromas of ripe red fruit, vanilla, toffee, cocoa and toast, nuanced by a dash of aromatic herbs and some mineral nuances.

Palate

Easy to drink and very well crafted, this red wine of Ediciones I-limitadas fills the palate with juicy flavours of blackberries and cherries, some herbal nuances and remembrances of spices and garrigue. This wine has a lively acidity, mild tannins and long, toasted finish.

Our personal opinion

An astounding value, Luno 2018 is an extremely versatile red wine from Montsant.

Unpretentious but competent. A gentle red wine.

This wines is bold and intense. The winemaker, though, has been able to tame its power. Spicy, fruity, very long. Great with autumn and winter dishes.
