Red Wine Magallanes 2016
Availability: In stock
This remarkable Spanish red wine is made from old vines. Planted in two estates at an altitude over 1,000 metres above sea level, most of them are over 100 years of age, and some are pre-phylloxera.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were selected on site. After completing alcoholic fermentation and a long skin maceration, this red wine from Ribera del Duero underwent malolactic fermentation in wooden vats. Then Magallanes 2016 was transferred into new French oak barrels, where it was aged for 18 months. It was not stabilized before its bottling.
Aerate this wine from Selección César Muñoz 1 hour before drinking.
The red wine Magallanes has an intense, medium-high cherry coloured robe with a some violet glints.
Ripe, almost jammy black fruit -notably blueberries and bilberries-, a delicately toasted note, and a speck of vanilla, cinnamon and dark chocolate. This Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero also exhibits a balsamic and mineral background.
Dense, richly textured and smooth, this wine from César Muñoz has a top-notch acidity which balances its weight. Hearty and terroir-driven, this Crianza red wine has some lively tannins and a long finish with some delightful forest floor and floral remembrances.
