Availability: In stock
The well-known Marqués de Murrieta winery produces this Spanish red wine from the vineyards surrounding the winery, a 300-hectare estate known as Finca Ygay.
Located in the Rioja Alta, the vineyards are located between 320 and 485 metres above sea level, with different soil compositions and sun orientations.
Manually harvested, the grapes were destemmed and gently crushed. Then they were fermented in stainless steel tanks with periodic pump-overs and puch-downs.
After that, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2016 was aged for 16 months in new and semi-new American oak barrels.
Finally, this red wine from La Rioja was aged for a minimum of 24 months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.
We suggest that you decant it for 30 minutes to appreciate its full potential.
The wine Marqués de Murrieta Reserva has a high, intense, cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim.
Intense and elegant, this blend of Tempranillo, Graciano Mazuelo and Grenache exhibits some aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries, some spicy hints of pepper, some touches of smoke and some creamy notions.
Smooth and savoury, this reserva of Marqués de Murrieta also displays a certain sharpness which is very rewarding. The fruit is very pure, and it is nuanced by spices, cocoa and underbrush. Crunchy tannins, lively acidity, and long finish with some remebrances of balsam and toast.
