Red Wine Naltres 2018

Produced by L'Olivera Cooperativa, Naltres (meaning "We" in the North-Western Catalan dialect spoken in the Lleida province) was the first Spanish red wine produced by the company.
The 2018 vintage of this red wine from Costers del Segre is a blend of two local varieties, 45% Grenache and 20% Carignan, with 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. All come from vines located in Vall del Riu Corb, a subzone within the DO Costers del Segre
The grapes were harvested by hand in little boxes to avoid fruit bruising. Then this organic red wine was fermented and aged for 8 months in stainless steel tanks.
Finally, Naltros 2018 was aged for a further 18 months in the bottle.
As a side note, it is worth mentioning that, for more than 20 years, L'Olivera coop has been doing the praiseworthy task of giving people with mental disabilities the oportunity to work, furthering their economic and social integration. That is the meaning of the "Naltres" name.
The red wine Naltres has a bright cherry colour with a violet rim.
Lively and straightforward, this blend of Grenache, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon smells of ripe red fruit, with some notes of cocoa, flowers and underbrush.
This red wine from Cooperativa L'Olivera is fresh and silky, with notes of red berries, aromatic herbs and flowers. Well-crafted, with ripe tannins and a good acidity. This organic red wine has a long, pleasant finish with some remembrances of red fruit and Mediterranean garrigue.

Fresh and inviting, Naltres 2018 is an excellent value from Costers del Segre, western Catalonia.
