Product Description
Details

Crafted by the Soto y Manrique winery, Naranjas Azules Garnacha is a varietal Spanish rosé wine made solely from Grenache. An interesting feature of this wine is that it is a Blanc de Noirs.

Produced in the DOP Cebreros-Sierra de Gredos, at an altitude of 780 metres above sea level, the vines are over 50 years old.

Thus, after the harvest the grapes were crushed, put into stainless steel tanks and fermented without prior maceration with the grape skins. Since the wine juice and the skins were only in contact for a very short period of time, the winemaker was able to obtain a slightly coloured must from red grapes.

The fresh Naranjas Azules Garnacha 2020 was bottled in February 2021.

This refined Grenache rosé wine is comparable to some Provence rosés twice of thrice its price.

Appearance

The rosé wine Naranjas Azulesis bright rosy with some orange-coloured and onion skin-coloured glints.

Nose

This is a subtle varietal Grenache. Strawberries and cherries, with some white flowers, some herbal notes (mint, fennel) and a touch of mandarin orange.

Palate

This rosé wine from Soto y Manrique is supple and full of nuance. Fresh and uplifting, with an aftertaste of wild berries, herbs and citrus.

Our personal opinion

Dressed in an elegant, French-like, rosy suit, Naranjas Azules Garnacha 2020 from Soto y Manrique goes well with pasta, rice or blue fish. It is also a delightful afternoon drink.

The name is rather odd, but the wine delivers. A Provence-style rosé for half the price.
