Crafted by Gabriel Martínez Valero, chief winemaker of Crápula Wines, NDQ Selección is the elder brother of NDQ Roble. The difference resides in the fact that the former was aged for a longer period - 12 months - in oak barrels.
Belonging to the DO Jumilla, this Spanish red wine is a blend of Monastrell and Syrah coming from vines grown at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level in limestone soils with low levels of organic matter. Climate is mediterranean-continental.
Harvested and destemmed, the grapes underwent a pre-fermentation cold maceration for 12 days. Then they were fermented at a temperature of 28ºC in open wooden vats. After a 12-month ageing period in French and American oak barrels, NDQ (Nacido del Quorum) Selección 2016 was clarified with egg whites, naturally filtered and bottled.

The red wine NDQ Selección has a medium-high, cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.
This Crianza red wine by Crápula Wines shows a delightfully Mediterranean character. Aromas of figs, raspberries and cranberries, along with lactic and coffee sensations, hints of toast and a touch of liquorice.
This blend of Monastrell and Syrah is very expressive and accesible, in the best sense of the word. Smooth on the palate, with lively notes of ripe fruit, an electric acidity, fresh touches of garrigue and Mediterranean forest, and some lactic remembrances. Tightly-packed, but not heavy. This Jumilla red wine has a long finish reminiscent of balsam and herbs.

Even more interesting than its younger brother, this NDQ Selección 2016 will pair wonderfully with roasted beef and feathered game recipes.
