Red Wine Ops de Loxarel 2020

Produced by Masia Can Mayol, Ops de Loxarel is made from a blend of certified organic Grenache and Samsó (Carignan) vines. Though frequent in other regions of Catalonia, the combination of those two varieties is rather uncommon in Penedès.
After a meticulous harvest, the two varieties of this Spanish red wine were separately vinified.
Once alcoholic fermentation was completed, this organic and biodynamic red wine was aged for 3 months in 720-litre clay vessels, in order not to distort the wine with wooden flavours and aromas.
Belonging to the DO Catalunya, Ops de Loxarel 2020 is a radical, nicelly irreverent wine.
Pair this young red wine with healthy meat recipes.
The organic red wine Ops de Loxarel is violet-ruby with a bluish rim.
Despite its youthful colour, the first impression we get from this blend of Grenache and Carignan is a note of leafy vegetables, slowly evolving into aromas of blackberries, strawberries and remembrances of red flowers.
Fresh and yummy, this Loxarel wine has a great acidity and a slightly wild, rugged character that is quite attractive. Fruit-driven, this wine of Masia Can Mayol has an excellent acidity and a medium, uplifting finish.

After so many overpolished wines, Ops de Loxarel 2020 is a welcomed surprise.
