Red Wine Óscar Tobía Gran Reserva 2014
Gran Reserva from La Rioja, blend of Tempranillo and Graciano aged for 24 months in French and Hungarian oak barrels.
Availability: In stock
This is the second vintage of Óscar Tobía Gran Reserva, the flagship wine of Bodega Tobía.
This Spanish red wine from La Rioja is a top-notch blend of old-vines Tempranillo, coming from three vineyards with different sun orientations and soil compositions, alongside a tiny amount of Graciano coming from young vines.
After a meticulous harvest, the grapes were destemmed and fermented in steel tanks.
Malolactic fermentation took place in French and Hungarian oak barrels, after which this Rioja red wine was aged for 24 months.
Naturally stabilized, this Gran Reserva from La Rioja Alta was not filtered prior to its bottling.
Finally, Óscar Tobía Gran Reseva 2014 was further smoothed for some months in the cellar before its release.
Production of 18,000 bottles. Decant 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The wine Gran Reserva Oscar Tobía has a clean, intense cherry colour with some garnet tinges. |

Nose | Expressive and really complex, this red wine from La Rioja Alta begins suggesting some nuances of forest floor, underbrush, balsam and menthol, combined with aromas of clove, cinnmamon, white and black pepper and tobacco leaves. All this is sustained by a skeleton of pure, fragrant red and black fruit nuanced by some mineral and earthy remembrances. A most successful blend of Tempranillo & Graciano this is. |
Palate | Pleasant, savoury and fully grown up. Smooth-textured and very structured, with a phenomenal potential for growth. At the same time, this Gran Reserva by Bodegas Tobía conveys the sense of immediacy and, so to speak, "rightness" that only the great wines from La Rioja transmit. Ripe tannins, crisp acidity and extremely long, complex finish. |
Our personal opinion | The elegance and ageing potential of this Óscar Tobía Gran Reserva 2014 are truly outstanding. |
