Produced by Bodegas Señorío de Otazu, the wine Pago de Otazu Tinto is made from vineyards located in Sierra del Perdón and Etxauri, an area of Pamplona, Navarra, belonging to the DO Pago de Otazu. In 2009, the place was granted the "Vino de Pago" seal, which distinguishes the wines coming from the best terroirs.
This excellent Spanish red wine was made from a blend of Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, hand-picked at dawn.Once in the cellar, they were macerated for a week in French oak barrels, and subsequently aged for 18 months. Before its commercial release, Pago de Otazu 2010 was aged for a further 36 months in the bottle.
The production of the 2010 vintage of this reserva red wine totalized 5,670 bottles.
We suggest that you aerate this red wine from Navarra 30 minutes before you drink it.
The wine Pago de Otazu Tinto has a bright, clean, high cherry-coloured robe with a ruby rim.
This blend of Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon suggests some fresh notes of red berries, spices and balsam, punctuated by hints of freshly ground coffee. As this red wine from Navarra opens, there appear remembrances of fine leather, cedar, vanilla, dry earth and mineral.
Mature, round and harmonious, years have done wonders to this Vino de Pago. Velvety-bodied, with delicious red fruit, dim suggestions of vanilla and clove, and a toasted core. This wine of Bodega Otazu has a very good acidity and some ripe, savoury tannins. Long and evocative finish.
