Red Wine Parada de Atauta 2017
Availability: In stock
The prestigious Dominio de Atauta winery presents the new vintage of Parada de Atauta.
A purebred Ribera del Duero, this Spanish red wine is made from 80 to 100-years-old Tinto Fino vines, planted on sandy and pebblestone soils located at an altitude of 900 to 1000 metres above sea level.
Harvest took place during October. The grapes were destemmed and then cold-soaked and fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Malolactic fermentation took place in oak vats.
After that, Parada de Atauta 2017 was aged in 225-litre French oak barrels, one-fourth of which were new, for over a period of 12 months. Finally, it was clarified with egg whites before bottling.
We strongly suggest that you decant this red wine from Ribera del Duero for 30 minutes before you drink it.
Appearance | The wine Parada de Atauta has an intense, bright, high cherry-coloured robe with some claret tinges and a violet rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Loads of red and black fruit, nuanced by wooden notes and some spicy remembrances. Deep and terroir-oriented, this old-vines Tinto Fino also exhibits some hints of coffee, cocoa, tobacco and balsam. |
Palate | Powerful, not overpowering. Fruit notes are very fresh and show great purity, enlivened by well-defined notes of spices, an intimation of wet earth and some notes of underbush. This wine from Dominio de Atauta has some lively tannins, a mark of a long life, and long, complex finish. |
Our personal opinion | Smooth, intense and well-crafted, Parada de Atauta 2017 will pair beautifully with a hearty lamb stew. |
