Product Description

Pardas Collita Roja 2013 is a unique wine, for it is made from a most unusual blend of two rare varieties.

A 90% of the wine is composed of old-vines Sumoll, an old indigenous Catalan variety that was fortunately saved from extinction by, most notably, the Pardas winery.

Sumoll produces wines with a light body, great tension and a remarkable acidity and crispness. Wines that, in the event of a blind tasting, will hardly be identified as purely Mediterranean.

The wine is complemented with 10% Marselan, a French variety that has adapted extremely well to Penedès.

The grapes of this red wine by Celler Pardas were harvested and carefully vinified in stainless steel tanks and chestnut casks depending on its plot of origin.

Then the wine was transferred into 1st, 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels, where it was aged for 13 months. After that, the wine was blended and bottled.

Pardas Collita Roja is a wine unlike any other. Drink now to 2020.

Decant a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.

Additional Information
Additional Information

Very bright, clean, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with a violet rim.

This Spanish red wine from Penedès displays aromas of Mediterranean garrigue, fresh red fruit, orange rind, blue flowers, spices and liquorice. On the background, dim remembrances of toast, dry earth, mineral and smoke.

Fresh and razor-sharp, with a linear, light body and a wonderful tension. Wild strawberries, aromatic herbs, some remembrances of citrus and some earthy remembrances. Bold tannins, exceptional acidity and long, enticing finish.

Our personal opinion

Pardas Collita Roja 2013 is simply different. You can pair it with meat or blue fish dishes. However, we suggest that you drink it without food in order to fully appreciate its originality. In any case, be sure to decant it for 1 hour minimum, because the wine opens very tight.

red harvest
A sort of Pinot-meets-Nebbiolo with a touch of rusticity. Very appealing. Review by Wine genetist (Posted on 07/02/2019)
