Red Wine Pardas Negre Franc 2017
Availability: In stock
Specifically, this Spanish red wine is composed of 77% Cabernet Franc and 23% Cabernet Sauvigon. The Cab. Franc grapes come from two parcels: Vinya de la Barraca, planted in 1996, and Les Obagues Velles, planted in 1998. The Cab. Sauvignon grapes are sourced solely from the first parcel. Both are farmed following environmentally friendly procedures, using no pesticides or chemical herbicides whatsoever.
Separately harvested through September, the two grape varieties of this Penedès red wine were also vinified separately. First, they were destemmed and fermented in centenary concrete tanks lined with resin for a period of 23 to 27 days.
After that, Pardas Negre Franc 2017 completed a spontaneous malolactic fermentation, and then it was transferred into 225 and 300-litre French oak barrels, where it was aged for 11 months. It was delicately filtered prior to its bottling.
Aerate this Crianza red wine some time before drinking.
The red wine Pardas Negre Franc is medium ruby with some violet reflections and a garnet rim.
Intense and rather deep, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc shows a rich combination of black fruit, some vegetal and mineral undertones, suggestions of dry earth and balsam, and some hints of spices.
Bold and palate-coating, this wine of Celler Pardas also has precision and focus. Remembrances of Havanna cigars, green bell pepper, spices, red berries, incense and menthol. Good acidity, crunchy tannins and long finish.
|Our personal opinion||
The amazingly priced Pardas Negre Franc 2017 proves, yet again, that the Bordeaux varieties perform excellently in Penedès.
