Red Wine Perelada Finca Espolla 2016
Availability: In stock
This bold Spanish red wine is produced by Castillo Perelada.
Made from an exuberant blend of Syrah and Monastrell (a.k.a Mourvèdre), the grapes of Perelada Finca Espolla come from young, about 15 year old vines planted in slate soils and located on the spurs of the Pyrénées - in a charming place called Les Alberes.
Harvested by hand, this red wine from L'Empordà was fermented and macerated in tanks.
After that, it was aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. Finally, this Crianza red wine from L'Empordà was aged for a further months in its elegant Bordeaux bottle prior to its commercial release.
Decant Perelada Finca Espolla 2016 30 minutes before drinking.
The red wine Perelada Finca Espolla has a clean, bright, high ruby-coloured robe with a violet rim.
Luxurious and expressive, Finca Espolla by Perelada shows some wonderfully deep mineral undertones that convey a remarkable sense of terroir, slowly evolving into aromas of pure ripe black fruit, bitter chocolate and violets, the primary varietal notes of Monastrell and Syrah, alongside some remembrances of dry earth, citrus, Eastern spices and balsam.
Powerful and full-bodied, that's for sure, this estate red wine by Castillo Perelada also shows plenty of finesse and nuance. Again, impressive mineral notes, remembrances of balsam and menthol, suggestions of flowers and earth and, on the background, a layer of black fruit. Lively, crisp acidity and very long, mineral finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Somehow reminiscent of some great Australian wines, the soil imprint is nevertheless much more intense in this Perelada Finca Espolla 2016.
