Product Description
Details

This is the new vintage of Pintia. The producer of this Spanish red wine, the legendary Vega Sicilia winery, has definitely succeeded in bringing out the best qualities of the bold Tinta de Toro grape.

The grapes are sourced from two plots with very different soils, situated at 700 metres of altitude and planted with vines around 35 years years of age.

The 2018 vintage was rainier and cooler than usual. Harvest was carried out between September 20 and October 7.

The grapes were hand-harvested, meticulously selected, destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. After that, Pintia 2018 was aged in mostly new French oak barrels (82%) and American oak barrels (18%) for 10 months.

Bottled in April 2020, this Crianza red wine of Bodegas Pintia was clarified with egg whites, bottled and aged for about 36 months before it hit the market.

Decant this red wine from Toro 2 hours before drinking.

Nose

The nose of this varietal Tinta de Toro opens with a deeply balsamic and mineral background that sustains a well-defined layer of black fruit, cocoa and flowers, combined with nuances of sweet spices, leather, aromatic herbs and some earthy remembrances.

Palate

Smooth and well-balanced, the 2018 vintage of this wine from Bodega Pintia is fresher and more elegant than ever. First-class acidity with a solid, imposing structure. Slightly rustic, but in a pleasant, noble way that becomes ever more engaging as the wine reveals its many nuances. Yummy tannins and long, mineral finish.

Our personal opinion

The impeccably crafted Pintia 2018 has a remarkable ageing potential. If you have the chance, we suggest that you store some bottles for a few years.

great vintage
Value
The 2017 vintage is by far the best I've tasted. They've finally learnt how to get the best out of this difficult variety. The wine has everything: intensity, freshness, depth and a sense of place.
