Bodega Plana d’en Jan, a boutique winery from DO Penedès focused on crafting small-batch wines from singular plots, is the producer of the wine Plana d’en Jan Bon Jan Gran 50/50, an equal parts Bordeaux blend sourced from two vineyards.
The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vineyard planted in 1989, and the Merlot was planted in 1999. Both plots are located in a mineral-rich area, a fact that gives this Spanish red wine a quite characteristic personality.
Hand-harvested in 15 kg boxes and carefully selected, the grapes were fully destemmed and macerated on skins for 15 days. This red wine from Penedès fermented spontaneously with wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks.
After completing malolactic fermentation in 300-litre French oak barrels, the red wine Plana d’en Jan Bon Jan Gran 50/50 2019 was aged for a period of 12 months.
Finally, this Crianza red wine was bottled and aged for some years in the cellar before hitting the market.

Palate | This wine of the Plana d’en Jan winery is vibrant, supple and juicy, with bright black fruit, plush tannins, a phenomenal balsamic acidity and a very long finish with a chalky remembrance and a spicy and minty twist. |
