Details
One of the two varietal red wines of bodega Plana d’en Jan, a family-run winery from DO Penedès specializing in microvinifications of exceptional plots, the red wine Plana d’en Jan In Albis is sourced exclusively from a 0.42-hectare Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard planted in 1989.
The low-yielding vines are farmed with minimal intervention and environmentally friendly procedures. Cover crops are used to preserve humidity, prevent soil erosion and enhance its microbial life. Furthermore, the parcel is weeded by hand twice a year.
The hand-picked grapes were carefully selected and destemmed. This Spanish red wine was then fermented and macerated on skins with native yeasts for 25 days in stainless steel tanks.
After finishing malolactic fermentation in 300-litre French oak barrels, the red wine Plana d’en Jan In Albis 2018 was aged for 12 months in new oak barrels.
After bottling, this Crianza red wine was kept in the cellar for some years before being released onto the market.
Decant this single vineyard wine some time before drinking.
This is one of those almost-impossible-to-find wines. Only 686 bottles produced!
