Details

Formerly known as Portal Tinto, Portal Criança is a blended Spanish red wine from bodega Celler Piñol.

It is made from approximately 50% Grenache and a blend of Samsó (Carignan), Merlot and Syrah. The grapes were sorted from vines 25 to 35 years of age, planted in poor, clayey-limestone soils at an altitude of 450 metres.

After the harvest, the grapes were separately vinified in wooden vats.

Once fermentation was completed, Portal Criança 2019 from Terra Alta was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels.

Decant this red wine from Terra Alta of 30 minutes before drinking it.

Appearance

The red wine Portal Criança is medium ruby with a garnet rim.

Nose Straightforward aromas of wild berries, menthol and underbrush, combined with some creamy toasted notions, hints of vanilla, a tip of flowers, and notes of Jamaican pepper and clove. This blend of Grenache, Carignan, Merlot and Syrah is quite expressive.

Palate

Round and pleasant, this Crianza red wine has a smooth texture and a meaty body. Vanilla, toast, red and black fruit, dim mineral notions and some remembrances of exotic spices. This wine of Celler Piñol has a good acidity, ripe tannins and a long, smokey and balsamic finish.

Our personal opinion Substantial, yet highly drinkable, Portal Criança 2019 is a great wine to share with friends.

CRIANZA PORTAL
Value
A substantial wine, perfect with red meat. God fruit and not too much oak.
