Red Wine Prieto Pariente 2014
Availability: In stock
This is the second vintage of the first Spanish red wine produced by the Prieto Pariente winery, the new venture of the renowned José Pariente brand, currently run by the third generation of the Pariente family.
Prieto Pariente is made from a blend of Tempranillo (planted in 1941) and Grenache (planted in 1955) produced from a meticulous selection of extremely low-yielding vines located in Castilla y León. The aim of the winemakers was to convey freshness and a real sense of terroir.
Separately harvested and vinified, the grapes were fermented in trunk-cone shaped stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Then a portion of this red wine from Castilla y León, belonging to the Páramos de Valladolid series, was fermented in those same tanks, while the rest was fermented in oak barrels.
After that, the wine was blended and aged in used 225 and 500-litre French oak barrels for 11 months.
Finally, the wine was aged for a further 9 months in the cellar prior to its release.
Drink now until 2023.
Decant Prieto Pariente 2014 30 minutes before drinking.
Prieto Pariente has a clean, bright, medium-high cherry-coloured robe with some reddish tinges.
This blend of Tempranillo and Grenache awakens slowly, but when it does, it displays seductive notes of ripe fruit, sweet spices, underbush, red berries, toast, dry earth and some mineral undertones.
Remarkably well-balanced and very expressive, this red wine by Bodega Prieto Pariente has a silky body and a rewarding complexity. Juicy red fruit, liquorice, toast, withered leaves, hints of smoke and a dash of charcoal. Very good acidity and extremely long, harmonious finish.
|Our personal opinion||
Prieto Pariente 2014 has a truly great future ahead of it. A masterly crafted and really pleasant red wine from Castilla y León.
