Details
A varietal Tinta del País, the wine Protos Reserva 5º Año (formerly known as Protos Reserva) is made from vines more than 50 years old, planted in some of Ribera del Duero best terroirs.
Produced by Bodegas Protos, the grapes were harvested fully ripen, selected in the vineyard and brought to the cellar, where they were selected again and macerated.
Then this Spanish red wine was fermented for 24 days at a temperature of 28ºC-30ºC, with daily pump-overs and punch-downs.
After that, this Reserva red wine from Peñafiel was transferred into French and American oak barrels, where it was aged for 18 months.
Clarified and filtered before bottling, the wine Protos Reserva 2018 5º Año was aged for a further 42 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release.
Decant this red wine from Ribera del Duero 1 hour before drinking.

the first
At 6 years of age, this Protos vino is slowly reaching the top. Right now, I give it 92-93. I think at its best it will be a 95 point wine.
