Red Wine R&G Rioja 2014
Availability: Out of stock
R&G Rioja is a Spanish red wine crafted in La Rioja by the one and only Michel Rolland, the world's top flying winemaker, in cooperation with Javier Galarreta.
This wine is a varietal Tempranillo produced by the Rolland Galarreta winery in the region of Rioja Alavesa. The grapes come from plots located in the town of El Villar, at an altitude between 450 and 700 metres above sea level.
The grapes of this Rioja red wine were carefully harvested and selected in the cellar using Vistalys, an optical sorting machine that uses a colour camera to select only the very best berries. Destemmed and put into stainless steel tanks, the grapes were cold-soaked and subsequently crushed in a bladder press.
After that, R&G Rioja 2014 was transferred into new American oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 10 months with periodic pump-overs. Prior to its commercial release, the wine was aged for a further 4 months in the cellar.
Drink this Tempranillo from La Rioja until 2022.
R&G Rioja has a high, dense, bright, cherry-coloured robe with a purple rim.
This single varietal Tempranillo from La Rioja is elegant and intense, with notes of red and black fruit, liquorice and spices. Surprising notions of strawberry compote, along with fresh aromatic herbs, subtle toasted nuances and some touches of cocoa.
This Spanish red wine by the Rolland Galarreta winery is silky and complex, with a body that is both meaty and supple, velvety tannins and well-integrated acidity. Delicious flavours of blackcurrants and blackberries, a forest-like sensation, a dash of liquorice and some toasted nuances. Long, pleasant finish.
|Our personal opinion||
R&G Rioja 2014 bridges the gap between the old, traditional Rioja techniques and the New World approach to winemaking.
