Raventós i Blanc De la Finca 2012 is a highly interesting Catalan sparkling wine that comes from a unique vineyard located in a privileged place in Penedès.
The place is called Vinya dels Fòssils, and as its name suggests it is composed of rocks full of fossils. More specifically, fossils of marine origin that bring the wine a distinctive, saline minerality.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
Then they were blended and the resulting wine was bottled in order to complete secondary fermentation.
Finally, the wine was aged for a minimum of 3 years in the cellar.
This was the last vintage crafted by Mr. Josep Maria Raventós i Blanc, the founder of the winery, before his demise.
Drink now until 2022+.
Very bright, clean, pale yellow colour with some greyish glints.
Notes of white fruit, peaches and apricots, combined with aromas of aromatic herbs, white flowers, pastry, dry fruit and garrigue.
This wine from Conca del Riu Anoia has a lush texture and a fresh and bold passage through the palate. Very nicely crafted, with creamy, tiny bubbles and remembrances of peach syrup, green almonds, citrus peel, lime, hazelnuts, Mediterranean underbush, butter and a salty touch. Long, slightly bitter finish.

Raventós i Blanc de la Finca Brut 2012 is elegant, complex and age-worthy. After tasting it, you might want to reserve some bottles for the next years to witness its growth.
