The first Spanish red wine produced by the prestigious Remelluri winery, Remelluri Reserva was also one of the first single-estate wines ever produced in La Rioja.
As for the agricultural practices, the bodega Granja Ntra. Sra. de Remelluri follows organic and biodynamic procedures. It was one of the very first in La Rioja to do so.
Manually harvested and selected at the vineyard and in the cellar, the grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks using only indigenous yeasts. The malolactic fermentation of this reserva red wine from La Rioja took place in barrels of different origins and capacities.
Once malolactic was completed, Remelluri Reserva 2012 was aged in those same barrels for 22 months. Finally, it was bottled and aged for a minimum of 42 months before its commercial release.
The red wine Remelluri Reserva has a clean, bright, high cherry-coloured robe with a garnet rim.
Notes of sweet spices and toast, slowly evolving into aromas of black and red fruit, some of them under the form of jammy and liquor-infused fruit. This blend of Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano, Malvasia and Viura also suggests some notions of vanilla, black chocolate and tobacco mingle with some earthy undertones and some liquorice remembrances.
A wine, so to speak, in full command of itself. This Rioja Reserva from Bodega Remelluri enters the palate gently, quietly displaying notes of fruit, undergrowth, balsam, eucalyptus, withered leaves and wet earth. Long and silky, with ripe tannins and a long, old-style finish.
