White Wine Remírez de Ganuza Blanco 2019
Availability: In stock
Honouring the great Rioja white wine tradition, some years ago the prestigious Remírez de Ganuza winery launched onto the market its first Spanish white wine.
After a thorough research and many tries to obtain the best possible blend, the winery decided to craft Remírez de Ganuza Blanco from a blend of Viura, the most important variety in the region, with Malvasía, White Grenache and other white varieties. All of the grapes com from grapevines with an average age of 60 years.
The hand-picked grapes were kept cold for 24 hours and carefully selected. Then the free-run juice was fermented in new French oak barrels, after which this white wine from La Rioja was aged for 9 months. During that period, the barrels were perodically rotated to stir the lees.
Finally, Remírez de Ganuza Blanco 2019 was bottled and aged for a further 24 months before hitting the market.
Aerate this Burgundian Crianza white wine 30 minutes before drinking.
Appearance | Clean and bright, the white wine Remírez de Ganuza is pale yellow with some waxy tinges. |
---|---|
Nose | Bone fruit and white fruit, with remembrances of pastry, honey and aniseed over a background of aromatic herbs. This blend of Viura, Malvasía, White Grenache and other white varieties also insinuates some elegantly mineral nuances. |
Palate | Dense, complex, with remarkable potential for growth. The considerable structure of this wine of bodega Remírez de Ganuza is sustained by a solid acidity and a much welcomed freshness. Juicy white fruit, citrus, aniseed, eucaliptus, balsam and herbs come to mind, with a characteristic mineral touch and a saline twist. Long, elegant finish. |
Our personal opinion | Substantial and rather sophisticated, Remírez de Ganuza Blanco 2019 will improve considerably in the bottle over the next years. |
