Red Wine Roda Reserva 2016
Availability: In stock
The 2016 vintage was defined by a rainy spring and high summer temperatures. Finally, the grapes achieved an optimal level of maturity.
Crafted by Bodegas Roda, this classic Spanish red wine from La Rioja was fermented in French wooden vats at a controlled temperature. After that, malolactic fermentation took place in French oak barrels.
Then this wine by Agustín Santolaya was aged in 40% new and 60% 2nd year French oak barrels for 14 months.
Before its commercial release, Roda Reserva 2016 was aged for a further 30 months in the bottle.
Decant this Rioja reserva 1 hour before drinking.
The wine Roda Reserva has a medium-high cherry coloured robe with a ruby rim.
This blend of Tempranillo, Graciano and Grenache has a delightful nose, pure and very precise. Notes of ripe cherries, plums, spices and balsam, intertwined with aromas of Arabica coffee, pipe tobacco, underbush, lavender and fresh violets. At the bottom of it all, this Reserva red wine has a constant mineral beat.
Meaty, expressive and delicately warm, this Rioja Reserva shows some top-class fruit, which has been enhanced by a masterful ageing process, in the form of Eastern spices, cedar, balsam and undergrowth remembrances. Smooth and palate-coating, with mild tannins and a crisp acidity. Fresh and life-affirming, this wine of Bodegas Roda has a long finish with some remembrances of clove, vanilla and Havanna cigars.
