Product Description

The hugely interesting Rolland Galarreta Ribera del Duero is the joint effort of Michel Rolland, arguably the world's most influential winemaker, and Javier Galarreta.

A blend of 85% Tempranillo and 15 % Merlot, this Spanish red wine is made grapevines above 35 years of age planted in poor, rocky-limestone soils located at an altitude of 915 metres above sea level.

Carefully harvested and selected, this  by Rolland Galarreta were vinified in the facilities of Bodegas Valtravieso.

First, they were destemmed amd cold-soaked. Fermented and macerated with frequent pump-overs and punch-downs, Rolland Galarreta Ribera del Duero 2016 was then transferred into French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for a period of 10 months.

Not filtered before its bottling, this red wine from Ribera del Duero spent a further 4 months in the cellar prior to its release.

Aerate 30 minutes before drinking.

Drink now through 2025.

Additional Information
Additional Information

The wine Rolland Galarreta Ribera del Duero has a bright, medium-high, crimson-coloured robe with a garnet rim.

This blend of Tempranillo & Merlot carries some intense notes of spices, ripe cherries and a delicate lavender remembrance. Some hints of leather, toast, tobacco and exotic spices over a dimly earthy background.

Bold and powerful, but with a silk glove. This wine by Michel Rolland from Ribera del Duero combines suggestions of wild berries, a touch of liquor-soaked fruit, sweet spices and some floral and smokey overtones. Velvety tannins, crisp acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Our personal opinion

You can really see the French touch in this wine. Sometimes Riberas are a little harsh or dry on the palate, but this is all silk and smoothness. Incredibly well made, with fresh fruit and a long ending.
