The vineyards, around 15 years old, are grown in clay-limestone soils with some gravel on the surface. The Eguren family strictly follow the principles of organic farming -no synthetic chemicals allowed- and practice a policy of minimal intervention in the cellar.
After a careful selection process, the grapes of Románico 2018 were destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Then the wine juice was macerated with the skins for 2 more weeks and completed malolactic fermentation both in tanks and in French oak barrels. Finally, it was aged in the barrels for 6 months.
Aerate this Spanish red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
The red wine Románico has a medium-high, dark, cherry robe with a purple rim.
This varietal Tinta de Toro displays notes of jammy black fruit, blue flowers, grilled bread and vanilla. Evocative hints of wet undergrowth over a fresh mineral background.
Luscious and fruity, this wine from the Teso La Monja winery is full of black fruit, with notes of spices and hints of smoke. As with most Toro reds, this wine has a great structure, bold tannins and a tense acidity. Nevertheless, it remains gentle and pleasant all along. Medium-long finish.
