Produced by bodega Celler de l’Encastell in the DOQ Priorat, Roquers de Porrera is made basically from a blend of old-vines Grenache and Carignan. Besides, the composition of this Spanish red wine includes a small percentage of Merlot and Syrah.
The grapes come from two vineyards located on the outskirts of Porrera: Mas d'en Caçadors, planted with vines 75 to 100 years old, and Mas d'en Ferran. Both have the typical llicorella (slate) soils which characterize the Priorat region.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were carefully selected and destemmed on arriving at the celler. Then they were macerated for 21 days with the skins, and subsequently fermented in stainless steel tanks and French oak barrels. After that, Roquers de Porrera 2017 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 16 months in new French oak barrels from Allier.
This intense Crianza red wine should be decanted at least 30 minutes before drinking, to enjoy it at its fullest.
The red wine Roquers de Porrera is cherry red with a garnet rim.
Deep and complex, this blend of Grenache, Carignan, Merlot and Syrah balances the aromas of raspberries, damson and cherries with notes of clove and cinnamon, together with some smokey and toasted nuances and deep mineral suggestions.
An example of bridled power, this Priorat red wine from Celler de l’Encastell has a rock-solid acidity and some lively tannins. Layered and smooth, it has a very long finish with remembraces of ripe fruit and spices. Again, a deep minerality wraps it all up.
