Product Description
Details

The entry-level Spanish red wine of the Viñas del Jaro winery - a branch of the Compañía de Viñedos Iberian -, Sembro is a single varietal Tempranillo.

The grapes come from a single estate located in Pesquera del Duero, at the heart of the Ribera del Duero DO.

After the harvest, the wine must was fermented in stainless steel tanks for 10 days under a strict temperature control.

Then Sembro 2017 remained in contact with its lees for 7 days in order to enhance its creaminess and roundness.

Finally, this young red wine from Ribera del Duero was aged for 4 months in new and 2nd year 300-litre French oak barrels.

Drink until 2022.

Appearance

The red wine Sembro has a very bright, clean, high garnet-coloured robe with a purple rim.

Nose

This varietal Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero is fragrant, with clean notes of red fruit, along with balsamic hints and some lactic touches. On the background, some notes of fine wood and a dash of tobacco leaves.

Palate

A fresh and savoury red wine by Bodega Viñas del Jaro, it has a smooth body, a lively acidity and some spirited tannins that will mellow over the next years. The oak is unobtrusive, and the wine breathes freely. Long finish with some balsamic remembrances.

Our personal opinion

Youthful fruitness and restrained ageing mingle perfectly in Sembro 2017.
