Product Description
Details

The main aim of the Celler del Roure in producing this Setze Gallets was to craft an easy-to-drink, likeable young Spanish red wine where fruit could express itself to its full.

This red wine from Valencia is made from a blend of Mandó, a nearly extinguished indigenous Mediterranean variety, Monastrell (a.k.a. Mourvèdre), Garnacha Tintorera, (a.k.a. Alicante Bouschet) and Merlot.

Handpicked and destemmed, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks for two weeks. Crushed with a pneumatic press, Setze Gallets 2016 was put back into the stainless steel tanks, where it completed malolactic fermentation in contact with its lees.

Appearance

Setze Gallets from Valencia has a red-coloured, medium-low robe with violet tinges.

Nose

This young red wine, also known as 16 wine, shows red fruit in all of its forms: fresh, candied, marmalade and chewing gum. A touch of flowers and a dash of aromatic herbs. Nice!

Palate

This young red wine by Celler del Roure is lively, fresh and pleasant. Fresh notes of red fruit, garrigue and violets, very good acidity, almost unnoticeable tannins and short, but fresh finish.

Our personal opinion

Setze Gallets 2016 suits any occasion.

The wine scene in Valencia is quite exciting right now. Lots of local grapes being recovered, nicely priced wines like this one.

A wine with a true local character for little money. I dig it.
