Red Wine Sierra Cantabria Cuvée 2015
Availability: In stock
This Spanish red wine is made exclusively from grapes coming from a single estate, called Finca La Llana, belonging to the DOCa Rioja.
A single varietal Tempranillo, Sierra Cantabria Cuvée is crafted from vineyards located around the town of Labastida. The organically farmed plants are over 30 years of age, and they are planted in sandy soils, with some gravel and pebble stones on the surface.
Once in the premises of the Viñedos Sierra Cantabria winery, the grapes were meticulously selected and destemmed. Then the fruit was macerated for 2 days with indigenous yeasts under strict temperature control in stainless steel tanks. After a two-week maceration with the skins, the wine must completed malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. Finally, Sierra Cantabria Cuvée 2015 was aged for 12 months in 85% French and 15% American oak barrels, 40% new.
This red wine from Rioja was not filtered before its bottling.
Aerate 20 minutes before drinking.
The red wine Sierra Cantabria Cuvée has a cherry colour with bluish edges and a medium-high layer.
This Tempranillo from Rioja smells of juicy, succulent ripe red fruit, gently nuanced by a panoply of spices, fragrant aromas of violets and hints of toast and aromatic herbs.
The wine is expansive, savoury and very fresh. Fruit is ripe, pure and well defined. This Crianza red wine from Viñedos Sierra Cantabria has a nice acidity and some round, delicious tannins. The wine breathes freely, and it has a very long finish with remembrances of spices, earth and flowers.
|Our personal opinion||
So to speak, Sierra Cantabria Cuvée 2015 wine has a somewhat more modern character than the rest of the wines produced by the Sierra Cantabria. It will surely improve over the next years.
