Product Description
Details

This is the entry-level Spanish red wine of the Sierra Cantabria winery, owned by the Eguren family.

A single varietal Tempranillo, Sierra Cantabria Selección is produced from vineyards planted over 560 metres above sea level and located near Haro, the heartland of La Rioja.

Soils are composed of clay and limestone. Climate is Atlantic with a Continental influence.

Harvested by hand, the grapes were destemmed, fermented and macerated with the skins.

Then this Sierra Cantabria Selección 2018 was aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks and for another 6 months in 50% French and 50% American oak barrels.

Appearance

The red wine Sierra Cantabria Selección has a cherry colour with a purple rim.

Nose

This young Tempranillo from La Rioja is fresh, with straightforward aromas of wild berries, some subtle lactic touches and remembrances of graphite, black pepper and withered, damp leaves.

Palate

This expressive young red wine by Sierra Cantabria is smooth and meaty, with lively tannins and a crisp acidity. Notes of liquor-infused fruit, kirsch, toast and spices. Medium-long finish.

Our personal opinion

A great all-rounder, Sierra Cantabria Selección 2018 goes well with finger food, tapas and light dishes.
