Product Description
Details

Siós Blanc de Noirs is a Catalan sparkling wine crafted by the Costers del Sió winery in the northern region of Lérida.

Belonging to the Costers del Segre DO, this white wine is a single varietal Pinot Noir vinified in order to obtain a white wine.

Manually harvested, the grapes were gently pressed; after that, the resulting wine must was not macerated with its skins so the wine remained uncoloured.

Thus it was possible to produce a white wine from a red grape. In other words, a Blanc de Noirs wine.

The must was fermented on its lees in stainless steel tanks and new French oak barrels. In both cases, the lees were stirred on a weekly basis.

Secondary fermentation of this Pinot Noir wine took place in the bottle.

Finally, Siós Brut Reserva Blanc de Noirs 2012 was aged for 24 months in the bottle prior to being disgorged.

Production of only 4,000 bottles.

Appearance

Clean, bright straw yellow colour with some steely tinges.

Nose

Subtle touches of pastry, yeasts, butter, ripe strawberries, along with some herbal notions, and aromas of pomelo rind, dry fruit, smoke and white flowers.

Palate

Creamy, pleasant notes of wild berries, citrus, English custard, fruit compote, almonds and hazelnuts. Well-balanced acidity, tiny, caressing bubbles and tense, refreshing finish. Very well crafted.

Our personal opinion

Siós Brut Reserva Blanc de Noirs 2012 is a substantial white wine perfectly capable of accompanying a great meal.

Value
A bold Pinot Noir with a solid structure, though not lacking in finesse. Bubble is creamy and the wine feels crisp and fresh.
