Produced by Suertes del Marqués, Suertes del Marqués El Ciruelo is a gripping Spanish red wine from DO Valle de la Orotava, Tenerife.
A varietal Listán Negro (a.k.a. Mission and Tinta País), the grapes come solely from El Ciruelo, a north-oriented vineyard of less than 1 hectare composed of sandy soils and located at 500 metres of altitude.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were first macerated and then fermented in open concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts. After that, this Crianza red wine was transferred into used French oak barrels, where it was aged on lees for 11 months.
Finally, Suertes del Marqués Las Suertes 2020 was bottled unfined, so it may contain some sediment.
Decant this red wine from Tenerife 20 minutes before drinking.

| Nose | Though it is still developing, this varietal Listán Negro already shows some fascinating features. Amazingly mineral, with a deep volcanic note reminiscent of the best Etna rosso wines, some herbal and bitter hints, and an intimation of red fruit and bitter cocoa. |
| Palate | The texture of this wine from Suertes del Marqués is simply outstanding. The wine has some filigree tannins, a steely acidity and some enthralling chalky and ashy suggestions. Formidable tension, paired with a lifted, weightless mouthfeel and a complex, ever-evolving finish. |
