Cava Taïka 2014
Availability: In stock
This is the new vintage of one of the most interesting Spanish sparkling wines available on the market.
Produced by the Castell d'Encús winery, the 2014 vintage of Taïka comes with a new packaging and a different composition. The wine was also aged for a longer period of time.
Made from a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, this wine by top winemaker Raül Bobet is made from high-altitude vineyards located on the Pyrénées foothills, at an altitude over 1,000 metres above sea level.
Harvest was carried out by hand, and subsequent vinification took place in 25 hl wooden vats. Interestingly, this sparkling wine was produced following the Ancestral Method. Thus, alcoholic fermentation was stopped when the amount of residual sugar was enough to complete the process in the bottle, without having to add neither yeasts nor any additional sugar.
After that, Taïka 2014 was aged for a minimum of 60 months in the cellar.
Elegant and really complex, this sparkling wine from Costers del Segre had a limited production of 4,200 bottles.
Appearance | The sparkling wine Taïka has a pale yellow colour with some greenish glints. |

Nose | The blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc results in a very sophisticated nose. Subtle notions of citrus, white fruit, bitter herbs and dry fruit, along with deep mineral notions, suggestions of wild berries, raisins and honey, as well as remembrances of petrol and charcoal. |
Palate | Fresh, dry and wonderfully original. Razor-sharp acidity, exceptional integration of the bubbles with the wine and enourmous richness and complexity. This sparkling wine of Castell d'Encús is reminiscent of white and yellow fruit, with some creamy notions, mineral undertones, and suggestions of herbs, red berries and underbush. Long, complex aftertaste. |
Our personal opinion | The alluring Taïka 2014 is different from any Cava, Prosecco or Champagne that you might have tasted before. |
