White Wine Taleia 2018
Availability: In stock
In the foothills of the Catalan Pyrenées, amidst a privileged, unspoiled environment, the prestigious winemaker Raül Bobet produces this remarkable Spanish white wine.
A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, Taleia is made from grapevines grown at an altitude around 1,000 metres above sea level, in poor, calcareous soils which bring the wine a distinctive, zesty minerality.
Produced by the Castell d'Encús winery, the plants were carefully harvested and selected.
After that, a portion was fermented in new French oak barrels and subsequently aged on its lees for a brief period of time. As for the rest, it was fermented in stainless steel tanks and open-air stone vats dating from the XIIth century.
Belonging to the Costers del Segre DO, Taleia 2018 was finally aged for 9 months in the bottle prior to its release.
Decant this white wine from Costers del Segre some time before drinking.
20,900 bottles produced.
Appearance | The white wine Taleia has a straw yellow colour with some steely and greenish tinges. |
---|---|
Nose | Fruit-driven at first, with some elegant notes of citrus and ripe bananas, this white wine from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon soon draws forth hints of withered vegetables and spices, underpinned by remembrances of white flowers and vanilla over a layer of crisp minerality. |
Palate | Lively and focused, this white wine by Castell d'Encús is reminiscent of ripe white fruit, with some dim tropical remembrances, spices and some vegetal and floral notions. Vibrant acidity and long, mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | A classy and sophisticated young white wine, Taleia 2018 will improve in the bottle for some years. |
