Product Description
Details

Coming from the southern Catalan region of Terra Alta, Tempus is a Spanish red wine produced by the Altavins winery.

The wine is made from a complex blend of 45% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 15% Carignan and 15% Merlot, all of them coming from low-yielding, over 30-year-old vineyards located near the town of Batea.

Harvested by hand in little boxes and macerated for 22 days in deposits, the grapes were fermented with their skins to increase the structure and complexity of the wine.

After that, this red wine from Terra Alta was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and for a further 12 months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.

Decant Tempus 2016 1 hour before drinking. Drink now until 2026.

Production of 15,000 bottles.

Appearance

The red wine Tempus has an intense crimson colour with a purple rim.

Nose

This red wine by the Altavins winery smells of juicy black fruit, alongside some toasted notes, and aromas of cocoa, white pepper, underbush clove and vanilla over a mineral and balsamic background.

Palate

Gentle and meaty, this Crianza red wine has a delicately warm core and a silky body. Fruit is skilfully balanced with the ageing notes, acidity is crisp and tannins are lively and pleasant. Tempus from Terra Alta has a long finish with remembrances of ripe fruit, balsam, flowers and cocoa.

Our personal opinion

An expressive Mediterranean wine, Tempus 2016 is wonderfully drinkable and nicely priced.

Terra Alta is on the rise. I've had so many great values from the region!! Check the whites too, they're simply outstanding.

A very satisfying red wine from Tierra Alta. Spicy and persistent, with cocoa, yummy red fruit and a long finish.
